NZS 8510 (the testing and decontamination of methamphetamine-contaminated properties standard) was released in June 2017.

Methamphetamine detected at levels above 1.5 µg | 100 cm2 in a high use area, shall be deemed to be contaminated. A “high use area” is defined as; An area in a property that can be easily accessed and is regularly used by adults and children
Methamphetamine detected at levels above 3.8 µg | 100 cm2 in a limited use area, shall be deemed to be contaminated. This includes crawl spaces and wall cavities not used as duct runs, that are unlikely to be renovated
ZeroStone Investigations Ltd drug testing technicians take their samples in accordance with their inScience training, and in accordance with Dräger methods.
The Dräger Screen Test results are created by the use of the Dräger DrugTest 5000, and the results are passed onto the client by ZeroStone Investigations Ltd.
ZeroStone Investigations Ltd use Analytica Laboratories for the scientific analysis of samples taken. Analytica Laboratories test for methamphetamine and 3 related compounds (amphetamine, ephedrine, and pseudoephedrine). The testing is ISO 17025 accredited by IANZ, which means that it is independently audited to provide results that can be trusted. Testing follows the internationally recognised NIOSH 9111 method
Analytica Laboratories provide NIOSH 9111 compliant test kits for sample collection. ZeroStone Investigations Ltd drug testing technicians take their samples in accordance with their inScience training, and in accordance with Analytica Laboratories and NIOSH 9111 methods.
ZeroStone Investigations Ltd methamphetamine contamination technicians regularly take quality control "blank samples", which are analysed by Analytica Laboratories, to ensure their testing procedures can be relied upon.
Analytica Laboratories’ results and subsequent report are their findings, and are passed onto the client by ZeroStone Investigations Ltd.
ZeroStone Investigations Ltd do not necessarily endorse the NZ Ministry of Health methamphetamine levels for methamphetamine contamination, but accept that they are the designated levels of safety in New Zealand at the present time.
ZeroStone Investigations Ltd advise categorically that unless every surface in a premise is tested, there is no way to guarantee a home is completely free of methamphetamine contamination. Technicians are trained to sample from the areas most likely to show signs of contamination. The more samples taken, the more likely it is that any methamphetamine contamination present will be found.
